ABOUT REBECCA

I was born in Colorado and graduated from KU in 2007. After taking some time to journey across continents, I found my heart firmly rooted back in the welcoming embrace of Lawrence, Kansas. It's a place with rich history and charm!

Professionally, I've spent over 14 years capturing important moments as an event photographer. You can peek into my world at www.RebeccaFoxPhoto.com. But then, something magical happened during the tail end of the pandemic—I stumbled into the world of dog sitting, and it quickly became a delightfur addition to my life! I continue to prioritize photography gigs, but I'm always eager to fill my spare time as the puparazzi. :)

In 2022 alone, we visited 48 different houses and had the privilege of frolicking with 121 dogs and cats!

ABOUT STEWART

Stewart and I found each other in 2017 and we've been an inseparable duo ever since! He accompanies me on almost every adventure I embark upon! You'll often find him right by my side, ready to paws for the camera if you ask nicely! :) He's also quite the entertainer! Stewart knows some sign language, can play "dead," balance treats on his nose and flip them into his mouth, and he loves to dance with me! He's a master at retrieving balls with athletic prowess, plus he knows all his body parts, which makes grooming a breeze!

I'm almost convinced he's not a Muppet!

ABOUT WALKS

Walks are great for animals, including me! I love being outside (weather permitting) and you can certainly expect to get some fun photos of your furry friend(s) - my treat! Walks are often booked less than a week in advance. I can usually accommodate your needs as long as I'm not out of town. I am not available for walks on regular intervals due to my photo schedule, sorry!
MEET UP: Just like animals, some humans are naturally more trusting and inviting than others (some repeat clients have never even met me!) While I value and look up to you uber-trusting folks, I totally understand the vetting process others require, which is why I offer a couple options...
  • ONE FREE MEETUP at the beginning! No time limit! Please note, I can only offer this free of charge due to you uber-trusting folks who don't require a physical meet up! I look up to and cherish you, always!
  • FREE VIRTUAL MEET ANYTIME using either Google Meet, Skype, Zoom, or I'm happy to adopt your preferred app!

ENTRY: Code? Key? If you need to physically hand me a key, please do so when we first meet. Texting a photo or describing the location of the key seems to work well! Just don't forget to leave it! It's A Pawliday!Most dogs have a certain level of anxiety when they notice zipper noises or anything else that indicates that you're leaving for longer than usual. You can't communicate when you'll be back, and (depending on the animal) they may gravitate towards wondering if you will ever be back (I'm thinking about those creatures you found at "the pound" y'all!) And if you drop your fur babe(s) off in unfamiliar territory... let's face it, you're here because you understand this about your furry friend(s) and want to minimize their stress! Me, too!

DETAILS TO CONSIDER FOR STAYS...ENTRY: Key? Texting a photo of where to find the key has been working great. I will always leave the key where I found it unless you tell me otherwise!SLEEPING: I generally prefer to stay out of the master bedroom, if possible, but I'm super flexible! Just please don't ask me to sleep on the couch with 3 dogs (fur real!) I don't mind making a bed, just let me know if you want me to wash and dry the sheets before I depart! WIFI: I probably won't turn on your TV, but I'll need that WIFI password, please!PET INSTRUCTIONS: If you add all the info you want me to know in the new client form when requesting, I will be able to easily reference it! No such thing as too much info!HOUSE INSTRUCTIONS: Unless you reside in Batman's secret cave, rest assured, I'm adept at navigating and finding what I need! Clients often keep things logically organized, and the trend of labeling items is quite helpful. Some even leave charming sticky notes around the house—a delightful touch!Typically, you'll find me spending most of my time in your kitchen when I'm not catching some Z's. Alternatively, if you have a fantastic outdoor area, that's where you'll likely see me!CAMERAS: Staying in homes with multiple indoor cameras can feel like living in a reality show. While outdoor security cameras are great, relaxing inside a safe space without 24hr surveillance is a real treat, especially for longer stays.Many of my repeat clients have indoor cameras; they point them outside while respecting privacy indoors.

SHOULD YOU BOOK THROUGH THE APP INSTEAD?

Rove-r is how I got started caring for pets! They continue to be pretty good to me, but they do take a hefty cut, so you can expect my prices to be slightly higher if you book via my rove-r profile. 

The main differences between booking here or Rove-r are 

Off the app, I simply trust you'll pay me within a reasonable amount of time. I figure, you're trusting me, so we're already on the honor system. :)

Still, if you're new to in-home pet care service, using the app might offer added peace of mind. You'll have to find my profile the "hard" way, though. You can do it! I believe in you!
